On 28 April 2012 we will be preparing the garden at the Hub Rotterdam for the coming season. Urban Edibles will be offering a 2 hour lecture form 10am focussing on how to build healthy soil as the foundation for vibrant crops in the coming season (special attention will be given to maintaining pot soils). Following this we will lunch together with our first harvest of the season at around noon (salad provided by the garden where possible, please bring one other thing to share). FInally, we’ll put our new knowledge into action in a working session in the garden until 17.00pm
Ever been curious about exactly what lives down there in your soil? In this lecture you will receive a basic overview of the life under your feet and learn how different types of ‘compost’ and soil enhancers (like biochar) affect your soil. You will also get insights into the forest garden planning of the Hub garden and the organic edible balcony there. Following this, the afternoon working session will include harvesting our own compost, refreshing the pot soil on the balcony and planting seed and seedlings for the coming season. You can come to one or both parts of the day.
When: Saturday 28 April 2012, 10.00 – 17.00
